Wolong- A Must See

The Panda Reserve

Statue of Rescueing a Panda
We spent our time in Wolong at the Wolong Panda Reserve, where we volunteered to try and help out with the pandas. Come just to see the wonderful pandas, or come to volunteer also! Volunteering will get you up close, but I ask that you work hard so foreigners get a good name! Washington DC actually rented a panda from this reserve for a cool million a year or so. It was the panda who's cage I got to clean, Mei Ling I believe it was.

Baby Pandas

Although we worked with Adult Pandas, you walk by the panda nursery almost every time you go to get bamboo, etc., and it makes your heart melt. If you volunteer, please work hard- bring gloves. You are provided with a work uniform, but to seriously work you'll need those gloves and some boots. Its pretty cold up here. Bundle up.

If you work here, then you may be in charge of hauling bamboo or cleaning the cages. Cleaning the cages wasn't bad, panda poo (I just said panda poo) is just a bunch of wood chips, nothing real foul about that. I got to help them crush vitamens to put in the bread and milk to feed to them! I felt so special! Work hard and you may get many oppertunities lazier volunteers don't! <3!!

Getting Up Close and Personal

When you volunteer, you get up close and personal with these cutie pies! just be careful and listen to the people in charge, because pandas are still wild animals. Feeding them is a real treat <3!
