I was relatively young when I lived in Italy. I lived there for four years, the longest I have ever lived in one place-- so it is in a way my home. So, it saddens me as time goes on and details of my life there slip. I am returning there next year however.
I regret to say I do not have a lot of pictures of my time there, and I apologize for the poor quality of the photos I do have, because I don't have a scanner.
We lived in Northern Italy, about half an hour from Aviano Airforce base where my father was stationed. We were a train ride away from Venice, my favorite city we ever visited. As a child I could not fully appreciate all of Italy; (I left when I was 13.) We'd go to St. Marco's Square and while my parents admired the architecture and wanted to drag us to every church and historical building, my brother and I were over joyed simply to feed the pigeons. (It is illegal to chase the pigeons btw, lol!)
As young as I was at 10-13, I did find some enjoyment in the beauty of Venice. Riding on the gondalas was my favorite. |
