The centre of han-Sur-Lesse find its reason of existing in the caves.

The Lesse disappears in the "Gouffre de Belvaux"

In 1818 Count Robiano tried to find a route through under the rocks at Gouffre de Belvaux. His attempt, and many successive attempts, failed. 150 years later the young Belgian diver Daniel Ameye disappeared in the Gouffre de Belvaux. His body has never been recovered. After this, no further attempts were allowed.
On the other side of the hill, where the tourist boat emerges into the sunshine, other divers have had more luck. At the beginning of the 60's divers discovered an archeological treasure trove on the riverbed. The most beautiful treasures fill a whole museum in Han-sur-Lesse.

Out of the 16 kilometers of galleries discovered in Han-sur-Lesse, only 3 kilometers are opened to visitors
