Salt anyone?

The Chott El Jerid is the largest salt lake in Tunisia. It used to be a part of the mediterean sea, but when the transfer of water in the Gabes erea stopped, this place slowly became a desert. The water evaporated and left the salt behind.

On some places, you will find water in the desert. This is done by humans to collect the salt in the summer. in the winter, you'll find water on more places.

The Tunisian goverment has constructed a road trough the Chott El Jerid. This road connects Kebili and Tozeur

"Normal" restrooms

On this road, you'll find some stops where you will (off course) find a shop and some sanitary. If you don't have to go in these restrooms, don't :-)

Pros:Very nice views, amazing colors
Cons:Only one road and very salty envirponment
In a nutshell:A "Must have been here once"
