"Shabikah: oasis in the mountains" Shabikah by kbl

The oasis of Shabikah is located in the mountains at about 25 kilometers of the Algerian border. The oasis gets its water from a spring that gives warm water the whole year round. As from 1957, the village started to become unfit for human habitation due to the water. The local people have then reconstructed a new village about 500 meter further.

The old village was built with nothing but stones and sand. The new village is built using concrete and iron as well to avoid a new distaster to happen.

On our plans, this place was called Echbika. Our guide could not confirm us wheter it is Shabikah.
