If you're coming in at Molo Beverello I think I can help. I'll be as detailed as I can because it can be pretty chaotic! At the port you'll see a red and white snack bar and to the left a HUGE castle, Castel Nuovo. If you cross the street to the newsstand you can buy a day pass for the bus for 3.10 euro (which I thought was pricey since we only needed a 15 minute bus ride and if anybody knows a better way...) Walk towards the castle and you will see the bus stops for the Alibus and the orange local ANM buses. Most buses stop at Piazza Garibaldi but read the map to make sure which is the city center and that's where you get off. You can't miss it because the bus driver will usually stop and get off the bus! This is the main station in Naples. It was under construction when my husband and I were there two weeks ago. Circle around to your right and you will see the entrance to the train station. Yes the bus and train station are in the same place. We had no problem taking the buses, don't forget to stamp your ticket in the machine and we had some persistent taxi drivers willing to take us to P. Garibaldi for tre euro which was less than the bus ticket price but if you take a taxi which I think is a waste of money since the buses run regularly DON'T LET THE DRIVER TAKE YOUR BAG AND PUT IT IN THE TRUNK. The day we were leaving a gentlemen waiting for the Alibus to the airport with us at P. Garibaldi took a taxi for tre euro and when he got to the airport the driver informed him that it was an additional due euro for his bag! So don't fall for this trick always make sure that the fare includes your bags if you take a taxi but really we had absolutely no problems taking buses to P. Garibaldi and we stayed at the Hotel Eden which was right across the street but we did take the Circumvesuviana to Mt. Vesuvius so we also took the train. Good luck!
