Getting TO/AROUND: My husband and I took the train from Perugia to Rome and we bought our tickets ahead of time from Rail Europe. Even shipping to the US we had no problems and did not have to worry about full trains.

Getting TO/AROUND: We did a lot of walking around Rome to see the various sights and restaurants that I had gotten from websites like this one! I found it invaluable to have a map from our hotel especially to restaurants that we wanted to visit. I used mapquest.com and they have a version for Europe as well. We never got lost once!
