Rich Man, Poor Man New York is really one of those rare places where rich and poor alike ride the train together, grab a dog at a local street vendor, and occasionally say to each other, "How you doin?" I once had two college aged friends visit the city and one marveled at how much he enjoyed visiting the galleries, walking through times square at night, visiting central park, and grabbing a cheap bite at the local Afghan House. The other said couldn't wait to be working full time so he could afford to shop on 5th Avenue, eat The Palm restaurant, and afford a night at the Four Seasons. Depending on your state of mind and sometimes your budget, New York is truly an amazing place rich in varied cultures and friendly people. And for the few who may not be filled with hugs and kisses, don't worry about them talking behind your back -- New Yorkers love to share their point of view as much as they like to hear yours. It's just our way --Live and let live!! |
