Taj Mahal
Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal is for remembrance of his beloved wife--Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is the well-known white marble palace and there are two red mosques at two sides in Mughal garden (a large garden full of green). The main white building is a perfect symmetric design. It's somehow incredibly beautiful and every picture of me with is looks like fake photo! It's worth to take a visit in the hall where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal's coffins lie. They are both decorated with fine red & green pattern. The walls make echoes so some marvelous sounds come with people's voices...
Attention: 1) The check at the entrance is quite strict. It's forbidden to bring extra batteries, water and also lighter etc. 2) Some people show you nice points to take good pictures of Taj Mahal and then ask you tips. 3) Regarding the price of ticket, it's 20 Rs for local but it's 750 Rs for foreigners!
red fort
Red fort built by Akbar was a residence for royal family. Its wall and gate made of red rock are magnificent marking Akbar's braveness. There are Jehangir's Palace, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-khas, Shish Mahal and Musamman Burj to see. Jehangir's Palace is also a red building with white-line decoration. A huge bath tube for Akbar is just in front of it. Diwan-i-am made of white marble could be the biggest hall of public audience which I had seen in India! Next it there lies the tomb of the first British governor in India. The most interesting palace is Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan lived and watched Taj Mahal in the rest of his life...
Buland Darwaza
It was built by Akbar. He moved the capital from Agra to Fatepur Sikri. But due to shortage of water he had to give up this castle. There are Palace of Jodh Bai, Golden House, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khasm Panch Mahal, Birbal Bhavan, Jama Masjid, Shalkh Salim, Chishtis and Buland Darwaza (gate of Jama Masjid) to see. Unfortunately when our bus arrived there, the sky was getting dark. So I only saw Buland Darwaza by myself. It really looked great on a huge stage of many steps!
Attention: Touts here could be really crazy...
Directions: 1-1.5 hour far from Agra by bus
Sikandra
It's actually Akbar's tomb built in 1613. In the square a group of black-face monkey stay. It's fun to observe those both naughty and smart animals. The gate and hall are both red buildings with white-lind decoration. The four pillars on the gate are extremely tall and long and the interior wall and ceiling of the hall is decorated with pretty blue, gold, black and red patterns... Tourists are able to walk through a dark path for reaching the place where emperor's coffin situates. But personally I don't recommend you to stay there too long or alone as it's quite a frightening room....
Attention: 1) When you take pictures of monkeys, please don't be too close to them. In order to protect the kid, female monkey could attach you. 2) Watch out the steps in front of hall. They are all in the same colors and could be dangerous.
