"So much to see so little time" Rob61's Profile

MY First Travels

I have been traveling since the late 70s, Before the digital age, so my photo records are a little more resent.
The destination I first loved was poutugal, well before the euro, and for the most part before tourists came in the millions, It was a very different place,
Frendly, beutiful.slow pace of life.
The west coast south of Lisbon is still pritty much as it was in those days and the sea is always wild, and the beaches are empty.

Things I have done

Trecking in Iceland, Nepal, Sikim in North India, Tour of mt blonk,,many time to the mountians in Scotland, lake district, wales, both in Ice/snow, and fine weather.
I love Walking both localy and long distance routes. My most resent was the langtan treck in Nepal, Which after 5days my wife and I had to give up due to heavy snow, it even snowed in Katmando, it was the first time in 60 years.

Northern lights

Some of my time is taken with helping to lead a childrens group called the Wood craft folk, which I have been in volved in for the past 20 years,
The organisation promotes, co-operation, respect for each other and the enviroment, raicial harmany, and an understanding of different cultures.

The childeren I work with are between the ages of 6 and 12. over the years are group have helped bring childeren from Romania, Finland, Chilli, and Hungery, to stay in our homes and come to comps with us.
one of my happest times was seeing the reaction of the childeren when thay saw the northen lights for the first time on a trip to lapland.

Loas Vang Vieng

The land scape around Vang Vieng was beutiful, with the cliff jutting up out of the paddy feilds, The town its self was pretty sad with lots of bars and drunk young travelers Being a little older I found the tubing unconfotable and slow, but I really recomend going ferther up the river and coming back down on a cannoe
There are some great walks which can be done from the town, with interesting caves, {water caves on tubes} and its good to take a bike over the big metel bridge and up the valley. Dont get accomadation any were near the island, although the veiws are great you get kept up a half the night with all partying

Laos Vang Vieng

There are several opertunities to kill your self, using this slide could be one of them. this is a relly fun place to stop for a beer and watch the nutters flying in to the river.
