"Newcastle... The best kept Secrets!" Newcastle upon Tyne by Getcarlos

Newcastle upon Tyne Travel Guide: 910 reviews and 1,911 photos

Not technically a travel Page

Okay so its not really a travel page as i actually live Just over the water in Gateshead, therefore it is our closest city and where we go to Work, Shop and Party!

There are so many great bars, eateries and quirky little attractions in and around the city i thought i would spill some of the best kept secrets with you all!

Newcastle is famous for its nightlife, the friendly people and "every night is a party" attitude make it a haven for Hen and Stag parties and wild weekends away, but please do not think this is the only kind of nightlife there is to offer in "the toon." There was in the past a website/book called the Burglars Dog which gave very honest and sarcastic reviews about the local watering holes, if you can get your hands on it you have a hilarious read, which is frank and honest.

There are in fact some fantastic pubs and bars off the beaten track that can have a great pint without music blaring and having a dozen girls dressed as devils knocking your pint while dancing. The pubs do change all the time and so do reputations, but here are a couple worth checking out

Whats the Crack

If you have just landed in toon and have a limited time, the best thing to do is grab a copy of The Crack, its a free listings magazine and gives you up to date articles on whats hot and whats not in the North East (EVEN Middlesborough). If you are a clubber or a shopper, straight or gay, classic or contemporary it covers what you are into. The offices are just opposite the Central Station on the Bottom of Pink Lane where they have copies outside, failing that just have a look around the local independent bars or Shops in High Bridge

Pink Lane houses 2 of the best pubs in Newcastle, THE TOWN WALL and the FOURTH, both are very rustic and welcoming, with a number of hand pumps, wine lists and spirits to enjoy.

Scran Doon (eat food)

Scran, Bait, Food, call it what you like. Newcastle has great
