CN Tower: On top of the World
  • Tip Rating:
  • The CN Tower has recently been recognised as one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. It is the tallest free standing structure in the world, with the highest observation deck, the pod.

CN Tower: views from base of the CN Tower
  • Tip Rating:
  • The elevator to the observation deck of the Tower takes 58 seconds to get up there. It's actually quite a smooth ride. The elevator attendent chats to you on the way up to reassure any chickens !!!

    CN Tower: The Glass Floor
  • Tip Rating:
  • The glass floor of the CN Tower completely freaked me out at first. I practically had to crouch on hands and knees to look through it, but I couldn't go home without saying I had stood on it could I. It took a good 15 minutes of dithering. It is suppose to stand the weight of 6 hippos (OR WAS IT 60) Anyway, it stood my weight.

  • You can just about make out the Gooderham "flatiron" Buildings in the background below the two skyscapers. Enlarge the pic to see better. Apparently this building, designed by David Roberts Jnr is the most expensive office space in Toronto!

    Casa Loma: Casa Loma
  • Tip Rating:
  • This beautiful Edwardian castle was the former home of Sir Henry and Lady Mary Pellatt. He engaged the architect E>J> Lennox to build him a castle which had influences of English, Scottish and German castles that Sir Henry had seen on his travels. It took 3 years to complete and cost $3,500,000 at the time. He let E.J. Lennox build a beautiful mansion just across the road from Casa Loma with the left over materials.

  • We went to watch Liverpool vs Porto at the Skydome on July 30th 2004. The stadium is certainly impressive. Massive, clean, loads of clean toilets (this means a lot to me).
I was amused by two local guys sitting behind me. They were supporting Liverpool who were not playing very well and lost in the last few minutes. One guy behind me said to his pal "Well ya know, these guys don't seem to be playing so good tonight" It was so cute. If it had been a football match in England the comment would have been "These stupid F*****s are sh**e. Maybe only English readers will appreciate the humour!

What a delightful read! Your tour of Toronto was so informative. I love that "Shop-Dine-Tour Bus". Learned a new term, "Get on Shank's Pony" LOL Glass floor of CN tower would frighten me. Casa Loma Castle looks awesome. Great work.
