If you intend to see a show in Vegas I advise you to book it over the internet months in advance. Don't make the mistake that we made and leave it too late.

Don't get too drunk while you're gambling. We watched some poor guy who was s**tfaced at the roulette wheel. He had a big pile of chips when we arrived and he was throwing them to the spinner as tips and knocking them on the floor, crawling on all fours under the table to pick them up, knocking peoples drinks over as he flung his arms around when he won. The checker just came over and watched him until he lost most of his money and THEN they move him on. I won't say which casino this was because it doesn't matter, any of them would do the same. They are in the business of taking your money from you and it's up to you to keep a clear head so you can quit while you're ahead.

Take the usual common sense precautions that you would anywhere. Downtown Vegas has some dodgy looking characters, stay in the well lit area of Fremont St. Also, there are hundreds of guys on the strip handing out some kind of magazine with porn ads in or something. We didn't realise at first and held our hand out to take one. They are a nusiance but pretty much leave families alone but take note girls, if your husband falls two steps behind you or you drop behind him they will be shoving it in his face.

madamx Fri Jul 28, 2006 13:29 UTC Some really great tips on Vegas. Don't worry, I took pictures of the Paris bathroom too. ~ Helen | mazzap Mon Feb 13, 2006 20:32 UTC Excellent information - thanks for sharing! I wasn't sure when to book for the shows, so your tip is very helpful. Will be going for the first time in October & can't wait! I love the Paris Bathrooms, too! I agree that the hotels on the Strip offer a lot to see and do and are an experience in themselves. |
