Welcome to Salzburg!

Statue of local genius Mozart at Mozart square
Salzburg is a rather small nostalgic city in Austria, famous for being the birthplace of Mozart. Salzburg is a major tourist magnet and definitely owes much of its magic to Mozart. Mozart wasn't so fond of Salzburg though, he considered it rather provincial, so he didn't live here very long. I wouldn't say Salzburg is provincial. It's traditional (for example you have these horse carriages all over town and horsepoo on the streets - to the dismay of the locals...), but yet cosmopolitan in a way, due to all the tourists and foreigners living there. Anyway, Salzburg has a lot to offer for tourists, especially culture-wise - for example there's classical concerts every evening - and is sure a nice place to visit!

Pros:"cute, picturesque city with a cosmopolitan flair and beautiful surroundings"
Cons:"too many tourists, too expensive, odd weather, bit overrated"
In A Nutshell:"Come and feel the spirit of Mozart"

Hi Natascha, nice to see you online. A woman who works at the Frankfurt Opera has written a very good children's book set in Mozart's birth house: a small boy gets locked in after closing hours and meets Mozart when he was the same age.

Thank you for your comment! I love panda so much... Also, I want to go to Salzburg. because I want to immerse myself in Mozart's and "Sound of Music" world.
