The castle

Trakai castle dates back to the first Lithuanian kings and is in its present shape an excellent reconstruction, one of the most visited sights of Lithuania.

The biggest Karaite community is living here

The Karaites are Jews with Thora but without Talmud originating from Mesopotamia who were brought from the Turkish Empire to the kingdom of Lithuania in the Middle Ages. Today a group of a few hundreds is still living in Lithuania, most of them in Trakai
