A stop on the way from Kissing to Fúcking

This tiny fortified city is the last town in Bavaria on the romantic trip from Kissing to Fúcking before crossing the bridge over the Salzach which marks here the frontier between Germany and Austria.

Just as remark: Jose Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI was living here as a little boy when his father who was a policeman, moved quite soon after the birth of his son from Marktl am Inn where the Pope was born to Tittmoning (only a rather short distance away). Especially in eariler times policemen and customs officers used often to be "moved" in order to avoid too intense contacts with the locals. A similar thing happened at the other side of the frontier to the father of Adolf Hitler who was an Austrian customs officer and was living for a few years around the 20 April 1889 in Braunau am Inn right at the frontier.
