Alexandria is today by far the biggest city all around the Mediterranean Sea. Population 5 Millions. And in the first centuries after it was founded it was also the most important one. But all this glory has vanished, even the Levantine elegance and glamour which was lasting until to the middle of the 20th century has faded away. But it is still a nice spot, at least if compared to Cairo. |
