BALLINA
Driving north on the Pacific Highway heading for Brisbane it is hard not to notice the "Big Prawn" seeing this you know straight away that you are in Ballina..and a good place to stop for a break.
Located at the mouth of the Richmond River in Northern New South Wales Ballina with its lucky coastal community is famous mainly for it's white sandy beaches and great surf at nearby Lennox Head. This is also a popular place for its locally caught seafood and is hard not to pass up stopping here a while even to just eat some of the wonderful local seafood. The word Ballina comes from the aboriginal word "Bullenah" meaning "place where oysters are plentiful".

THE LEGENDAY SURF AT LENNOX HEAD

The views from the headland looking up the coast are nothing short of spectacular ..I spent sometime here watching the many surfers catching some good barrels..This is an extremely popular surfing beach on the Aussie surf map for wandering surfers..
