BANGKOK
I must say when i arrived in Bangkok the first time was by air after a long flight from Frankfurt in Germany and was extremely tired. I don't know what happenned then ,but there I was ,realising that I had not organised any accomodatio!!...well, I found cheap accomodation and had a great time in the few days that I spent there...I particularly liked the street food with many wandering vendors selling great snacks. I was taken back by the elephants in my street and ,so many dogs..I am extremely careful of dogs in Asia as "rabies" are commonplace in the animals...especially the monkeys ...so, beware and take care when out walking especially at night
The markets here a wonderful shopping and are great for someone needing an instant hit of "RETAIL THERAPY".I was taken by the huge markets that appear to go on forever selling just about everything that you would want in the way of souvenirs, clothes especially Tees...and leatherware ,bags, purses ,wallets , belts and shoes...amazing..good prices but you must put your bargaining skills into practice here.if you dont think its right ..walk off..its your money!!..
I can't imagine what it must be like to drive here in this insane traffic with what appears to be little regulations. I walk everywhere and it appeared that I was travelling faster than the passengers on the local bus..not to mention the traffic pollution...it is best to carry aand wear a face mask when walking in the city as the street pollution from the huge volumes of traffic is sometimes overwhelming..
Other times that I have stayed in Bangkok I have arrived by train and left by train ...at the huge Hualampong Railway station. I have also found that there is great accomodation closeby at great rates..transferring always with Tuk Tuk. Once again make sure that you have settledon a bargain price with the driver BEFORE you get in the Tuk Tuk......
- Pros:be prepared for lots of surprises here!!
- Cons:carry and wear a facemask as the traffic pollution is very high ..

Back for a visit again to this nice page -- I've been wanting to visit Thailand for so long. Your experiences here must have been eye-opening! Sorry to hear about the problem with rabid animals!!
Lovely photos and good tips here, Denny. The hostel is certainly good value.
Great accomodation tip Denny!
Fascinating Denny.....to see a large city with so much traffic etc...and yet see the simple street vendors. Great opening pic mate!! Hugs, xx
I love the corn that the vendors sell in Asia...but you know what, the biggest corn kernels are in Peru! They're 3x the size...My wife and I enjoyed Bangkok a lot, but I have not done my pages...Norman :)
