Ayr is well known for its racecourse which is home to the Scottish Grand National every April as well as the Ayr Gold Cup in September. Its the top racecourse in Scotland and has more racing days than any other in Britain.
At other times it also plays host to the annual Guy Fawkes fireworks display and a weekly Sunday market and car boot sale.
