W E L C O M E To My Homepage!
Allow me to share some of my travelling moments on this little space here. I travel both for business as well as leisure. It has taken me to several places, within Malaysia and beyond her shores. Some friends asked me why did I named this homepage as Travel Bug. Could this be a blessing or a curse, but the fact is I was truly bitten by the travel bug since my first taste of travel. It is often said that once you've got wanderlust in your blood, you've got it for life.
Happy browsing and please drop me a line at the end of your visit. Thank You.
I live and work in Kuala Lumpur or just KL, the biggest city in Malaysia. I know this city like the palm of my hand and for the moment don't need a GPS to find my way around.
KL city is on the list of the World's Top 100 Most Livable Cities based on a survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Y2007. In the survey Kuala Lumpur was ranked 75th. Not bad after all to be listed alongside other world cities such as London (39), New York City, NY (46), Los Angeles, CA (55) and Hong Kong (70). More on Kuala Lumpur here.

My favourites include landscapes, waterfalls, flowers, beaches, people and all types of vehicles, trains especially. Please follow this link to see pictures of the KL Monorail system.
Photographed here is the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express passing through Tampin Railway Station in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. This train travels 2,030 km in a two night journey between Singapore and Bangkok with short stop overs in Kuala Lumpur and Butterworth in Penang. The Express is reputed to be one of the most adventurous and exciting rail journeys in the world. There is an open-deck Observation Car which allows passengers to view the South East Asian landscape along the way.
The steam locomotive was an engineering marvel when it was created. Such a fascination to watch. Rolling by hissing like a teakettle on a stove with the unmistakable sound of the steam powered whistle. Many were subsequently converted to run on diesel engines and were gradually replaced by diesel and electric locomotives.
Pictured here is a locomotive built by the North British Locomotive Company Ltd, Glasgow. The engine number is 25765 and was manufactured in 1946. This loco is no longer in service and is left in the yard of Gemas Railway Station in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Just cannot resist a climb and was granted permission by the Railway Officials when I requested to see and photograph the unit.
This is a photograph of Berjaya Air DeHavilland DASH-7 aircraft on the tarmac of Pangkor airstrip.
The airline operates STOL planes which stand for "SHORT TAKE OFF OR LANDING" to island resorts of Tioman (TOD), Redang (RDN) and Pangkor (PKG) which have only short airstrips. All Berjaya Air flights from Kuala Lumpur use Subang Skypark (SZB) which is about 25 km away from the KL city centre. Flight time from SZB to PKG is 40 minutes. See video of DASH-7 taking-off from Pangkor here.
The Malaysian Peninsula has a good network of paved roads. There are various categories of roads namely the State Roads, Federal Trunk Roads and Expressways.
In the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, the network of roads have over the years seen improvements. I have travelled on almost all the Federal Trunk Routes and Expressways in the Peninsula. In East Malaysia, I have also experienced road travels in many parts of Sarawak and to a lesser extent Sabah.
No, I was not born with salt in my veins but somehow I fancy one day to sail over the seven seas to a far away land.............
This photograph was taken from my room, at Park City Everly Hotel Bintulu, with a view of the sea. Bintulu is a seaside town and its coastline is on the South China Sea. It is also a thriving port and a major industrial town of Sarawak. The town is about 650 kilometers east of Kuching, the state capital, and is accessible by air and road.
