Beauty In The Cemetery | Overlook of Dayton from Woodland Cemetery |
Woodland Cemetery has the most beautiful headstones, as well as views, in the City of Dayton. There are many famous people buried here, such as the Wright Brothers, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and Erma Bombeck. But most tourist come here for the scenery. It is definitely worth a look. |
| | Historic Dayton Dayton is full of history. It is known as the "Birthplace of Innovation." Many inventions were created here, such as the airplane and the cash register. Also many companies got their start here, such as Huffy Bicycle Co. and NCR. |
The Plight of the City!!!! Driving around Dayton, you can easily see that it was once a very wealthy city. Now things have taken a dramatic turn. Due to poor economic situations in Dayton, such as the second highest unemployment rate in Ohio, the city has turned into a very dirty and dangerous place. Many jobs are either laying-off, completely closing down or moving to other locations, i.e. Mexico. This has left Dayton an extremely poor city. | | |

hindu1936 Sun Feb 15, 2009 09:12 UTC Good to know that the Wright Brothers cycle shop is still being cared for. We will spend some time in Dayton on the ride east. | Stephen-KarenConn Sun Jun 8, 2008 21:20 UTC I didn't know about the Woodland Cemetery.
