The whole capital in sight

One of the things that I loved about Bern, is the fact that you can see the entire old town from the hills above.

The small town surrounded by the river looks so welcoming from anywhere you look at it.

Wandering inside the walls of Bern is a pleasure for itself. And there is so much to see in Bern: from museums to churches to great views.

And fountains, there are so many medieval fountains.

Carlos, fabulous page about the Swiss capital. Unfortunately, I only visited it briefly but I can second the statement that bears nowadays live in a very large bear pit near the river and it looked like they love their new home ground.

Hi Carlos.....the "basement" doors you see everywhere are actually old wine cellar doors...in the "olden" days wine flowed like water supposedly...and every building had a wine cellar..Now you know...

I haven't finished looking at the page yet but I totally disagree about the bear pit which has been closed for good and there is a big new area down by the river!!!!!! Google it.
