We visited Florence in early May, and it was already very hot (29ºC). I was surprised by the huge number of cars going in and out of the city centre, and not so much surprised by the large numbers of people visiting the city.

But once you’re past these first impressions, the city reveals itself, and you are amazed by the number of medieval buildings, churches, statues and the museums.

As well as with the people and the Arno river.

Pros and Cons

Pros:So many culture and architecture
Cons:too many people and cars
In a nutshell:Forget the traffic annd enjoy the museums and buildings

Good tips here. I just finished my Florence pages and it's nice to relive those travel experiences through some other VTer's pages. Cheers from the desert!

Thanks for mentioning the iron fence on the balcony of the Giotto tower, most people wouldn't think of mentioning that but it makes a huge difference from me :) I'm sure going to check out the tower now that I know that.
