The image of Venice as a romantic city, wonderful for a honeymoon, was completely changed when I actually visited the city.
But the magic is still there, if you consider that there isn’t a single car, bike or even a bicycle, in such a large city.

Besides, the canal and all the Palazzos, the great lagoon and the narrow streets are still incredible places to visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Fantastic Views, Architecture, atmosphere outside the tourist areas
Cons:The crowds, the street vendors, the tourist appeal in almost everything they offer
In a nutshell:Go and visit the city, don't follow the crowd

Carlos, interesting little page about Venice. I like your advices about restaurants, as I have made the same experiences. Even in Venice you can eat a good meal for a reasonable price, if you stay away from the tourist places.
