  • Restaurant Name: Newton Hawker Center, Melaka

Newton Hawker Center is located at Jalan Parameswara in Bandar Hilir not far from A' Famosa, St. Paul's Hill and major international hotels and shopping centres in the historic city of Melaka. This is the old Newton Hawker Center which is more established. Nevertheless a new Newton Hawker Center is located within a stone's throw from Hotel Holiday Inn at Melaka Raya.

Budget local food which is rather delicious and appetizing is available at the old Newton hawker centre daily in the evening and at night. The food is very popular with the locals who do not want to cook at home. Examples of such food are Malay Satay, Hainanese chicken rice, Yong Tao Foo, Char Kuey Teow (fried noodles), fried chicken wings, Wanton noodles, and drinks such as ice kachang to quench your thirst! Make it a point to savour some local food when you are in Melaka for your vacation!

Favorite Dish: Yong Tao Foo, Wanton noodles, Char Kuey Teow, Malay Satay, Fried Noodles, Fried chicken wings and Hainanese chicken rice.

Kantin Stesyen Highland (Station Highland Canteen in English) is located next to the Theme Park Hotel and Outdoor Theme Park in Genting Highlands Resort in the state of Pahang.

As Genting Highlands Resort is a tourist resort and destination packed with gamblers, prices of food and drinks at most cafés and restaurants in the resort are comparatively more expensive than those in the city of Kuala Lumpur. You may find this canteen serving delicious local food at reasonable price. The canteen caters principally for bus and taxi drivers plying the route between Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands as well as the staff and workers of the resort. Some of the food served in the canteen are fried noodles, roti chanai (local bread), nasi lemak, fried rice, assam laksa etc.

Elite Palace Restaurant, Club Elite, Genting: Food for the elite
  • Tip Rating:

  • Malaysia Travel Guide
  • Send to a Friend
  • Restaurant Name: Elite Palace Restaurant, Club Elite, Genting

Elite Palace Restaurant is located inside Club Elite at level 1 (Lobby floor) of the Highlands Hotel at Genting Highlands Resort in the state of Pahang. It is part of the Club Elite. Only Genting Highlands' platinum card holders can become members of this exclusive Club Elite. However due to popular requests the club is also opened to the general public especially dining at Elite Palace Restaurant. The hallmarks of Club Elite are luxury, privacy, magnificent and opulence, a place for truly elite as stated in their website below.

Elite Palace Restaurant is famed for its Cantonese cuisines. The restaurant accommodates only 50 guests at one time. The main reception at the entrance has a large window aquarium complete with many different species of fish. The aquarium is said to be the largest window aquarium in Southeast Asia! The restaurant's main specialties are braised gold foil abalone with oyster sauce and shark's fin soup. Chicken roll is also popular in the restaurant.

When we were in Genting Highlands in September 2008, the restaurant was promoting Beijing food. We took the opportunity to order Beijing delicacies simply because we were on our way to Beijing in October 2008. The highlight of Beijing food promotion is of course the popular Peking duck. The food was delicious it has to be said. The services were impeccable as there were at least four waitresses attending to our table when Peking duck was served!

Please note the restaurant's opening hours. Breakfast between 6.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.; lunch between 12.00 noon and 2.00 p.m. and dinner between 6.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. For those who make a fortune at Casino de Genting, why not savour some real Cantonese cuisines at the restaurant!

Favorite Dish: Peking duck is highly recommended. However we are not very sure whether Beijing food is still available in the restaurant as their specialties are Cantonese cuisines.

Restoran KFC, Kuala Lumpur: Fingers licking good!

  • Malaysia Travel Guide

  • Restaurant Name: Restoran KFC, Kuala Lumpur

Restaurant KFC does not require much introduction except in countries where there are no KFC restaurants. It is world famous! It was formerly known as Restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken. Restaurant KFC is one of our favourite restaurants home and abroad. We love Restaurant KFC ever since we were kids. It is amazing how long KFC restaurants have been established in Malaysia and are still going strong!

Its original motto "fingers licking good" suggests that it is best to eat the fried chickens with fingers. Basins are usually provided in the restaurants for you to wash your hands before and after your meals. Nine out of ten Malaysians eat their Kentucky fried chickens using fingers in local KFC restaurants!

The food may not be healthy for those who are especially health conscious due to its process of deep fried. Nevertheless it tastes great! Our favourite menu is spicy chicken drumsticks which are a little bit hot. The fried chickens are usually served with coleslaw and mashed potatoes in earlier days - excellent with tomato ketchup and/or chili sauce! A glass of Pepsi Cola makes a wonderful drink to go along with the fried chickens.

Almost all the major shopping complexes in Kuala Lumpur have at least one KFC restaurant outlet in their premises. Examples of shoping complexes with Kentucky fried chicken outlets are Sungei Wang Plaza, Suria KLCC and Mid Valley Megamall.

Favorite Dish: Spicy fried chicken drumstick which is hot served with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Served excellent with Pepsi Cola!%f%c%s
