China

Miscellaneous Photos
China is located in East Asia. It is the most populous country in the world with approximately 1.3 billion inhabitants. Most of the inhabitants in China are Buddhist. Beijing is the capital city of China and is also one of the largest cities in China. China is never short of tourist attractions! Cities in China that we have enjoyed the most so far are Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The following are two of our favourite tourist attractions in China:-
Exhibits at Oriental Pearl Tower

Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai

Oriental Pearl Tower is a tv and communication tower located at Lujiazui Lu in Pudong Park along Huangpu River opposite The Bund. It is the tallest tower in Asia and the third tallest in the world. It was at one time the tallest structure in China.

Oriental Pearl Tower was designed by Shanghai Modern Architectural Design Co. Ltd. headed by Jia Huan Cheng. It was constructed in 1995. The tower is approximately 470 metres high and is supported by three large columns of 9 metres in diameter. The observation deck is located at 263 metre high. Oriental Pearl Tower attracts approximately three millions visitors per year. Admission fee is 50 CNY. Opening hours are between 8.00 a.m. and 9.00 p.m. daily.

The Great Wall of China, Beijing

The Great Wall of China is a "must-visit" tourist attraction when you are in Beijing, the capital of China. It is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist attractions in China. The famous Great Wall was constructed in the 5th century BC.

The Great Wall of China is approximately 6,000 kilometres long and stretches from Lop Nur in the west to Shanghaiguan in the west. It is believed to be the only man-made structure on earth visible from the moon. It is truly one of the man-made wonders of the world!
