Oppdal is a small, but bustling town located in the central mountain district of Norway. It is nestled at the convergence of three valleys between the Trollheimen and Dovrefjell mountains. Although E-6, one of Norway's main routes, passes right through the town one should not expect a high volume of traffic. The area is a great home base for exploring the surrounding mountain regions, and one can easily rent a car and make short day trips to Dovrefjell, Trondheim, and Sunndalsøra. The area offers much in the way of hiking and mountain exploration in the summer and plenty of skiing in the winter. Town center offers many hotels, restaurants, and shopping all withing walking distance. There are also many historical and geographical attractions, as well as the availability to take musk ox safaris and visit traditional mountain farms.
