"Braintree, Braintree - What is a Braintree?" Braintree by chasdwes

Historical Town, but what's with the name?

Braintree, the birthplace of two of the presidents of the USA - John Adams and John Quincy Adams - and that famous signature guy - John Hancock, has a puzzling name. Braintree is also the site of the murders for which Sacco & Vanzetti were tried. Gee, this place is steeped in historical events.

So, I sought to find the origins of its name. Many residents were questioned including personal at the Chamber of Commerce. No one had an answer. Why?

History says that Braintree was named after a town in England. But, why did this name so intrigue the founders into borrowing it. l. still, await an answer.
