Great location and fits the budget and other San Francisco, CA Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

Because of availability, my wife and I spent the first night in a room with a double bed, and the last three in a room with a queen. The room with the double was VERY small. Barely enough room to put a suitcase on the floor. However, it was clean and served its primary purpose: a place to sleep. My advice would be to book a room with a queen. All of the queens are on the top (6th) floor and the rooms are larger and more comfortable. There is still some traffic noise, but the higher room was quieter. The showers in both rooms were hot and had great water pressure. For a cheap, clean place to sleep in the middle of it all, you could do a lot worse.

Unique Qualities: The location was great! A block inside the Dragon Gate in the heart of Chinatown. Easy access to all points of the city as the California Cable Car (east-west line) was a block away, and the Powell Street lines were 2-3 blocks away. My wife and I both felt safe walking in the area after dark as well. And while there is no breakfast provided, you are a block from a Starbucks and a French cafe.

We chose this hotel primarily because it offered free parking in the city. Our next two considerations were location and price. The hotel itself is a bit old, however, the room was spacious and clean. The water pressure in the shower was a little low, but acceptable. There are a limited number of parking spaces on the street level with more in a basement garage accessable from Buchanan Street. Both levels are immediately under the hotel.

Unique Qualities: The hotel is situated on busy Lombard street and has a number of good eateries around it. Two of our favorites were Alegrias (tapas and desserts) and Jake's Steaks (Philly cheesesteaks). There is also a small liquor/convenience store across the street which provides cheaper drinks and snacks than the hotel vending machines. Because of limited transportation options to downtown, I would not suggest this hotel for anyone without a car in the city; however, for those needing free parking, this place is ideal.
