This was my first visit to Thailand and I had to decide between Pattaya and Phuket. I decided for Pattaya due to the proximately to Bangkok airport and didn’t really fancy arriving in Bangkok and after 12 hours from Heathrow getting on another flight. My first reaction to Thailand is that it is ….hot very humid. |
| | Pattaya itself is quite busy with cars and motorbikes rushing in all directions with little regard to the laws of the road. Crossing the street sometimes was a difficult chore and NO I am not an eighty year old with a walking stick. The city itself has a lot to offer, the Thai’s have a very rich culture and are more than welcoming to visitors. They treat visitors with a smile and are always willing to assist any visitor. I didn’t really see Pattaya been an unsafe city or anything, just take the normal precautions you usually take at home.
The food is quite nice and spicy, but after hearing stories of people with upset stomachs I decided not to eat all in the street so I did stick to eating in restaurants. Most of the time I think I didn’t even know what I was eating! |
I wouldn’t recommend Pattaya to families at all. There are too many prostitutes looking for clients in the street and in the bars. It is a pity because Pattaya has a lot to offer. | | |

Enjoy the place - it's beautiful and since you like photography, you should have plenty of chances to flex your photography muscles. Cheers! | SLLiew Mon Feb 9, 2009 09:11 UTC Great page of Pattaya. I like the yellow submarine - took that ride in Disneyland Anaheim. Your closeup photo of the snake and head inside the crocodile jaw :) Cheers from Penang, SL :) |
