Wollundry Lagoon at night
My hometown Wagga Wagga (pronounced 'wogga wogga') is a town/city of around 58,000 people in New South Wales. It is about half way between Melbourne and Sydney (about a five hour drive either way) so it is a great place to stop for a visit... :)
Wagga is becoming a popular place to visit...almost every weekend there is at least one special event happening which helps with tourists in the city... Accommodation is quite often booked out so if you're planning on coming here, especially on a weekend, then book ahead. :)
Wagga is known as the 'largest inland city in New South Wales' and also the 'City of Good Sports'...among other things...
If you would like more information on Wagga and surrounds or to see more photos check out my Wagga Wagga page here on VT...
Mt Kosciuszko walk from Thredbo
Kosciuszko National Park is in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. There are a few ski villages which come alive in the winter time but are also very popular in the summer.
Check out my Thredbo and Snow Mountains pages for more info.
The view from the Panorama trail
If you're into snow there are some great places for skiing, boarding, tobogganing etc in the Aussie winter. The snow season in Australia usually lasts from mid June to mid September...although the snow can last much longer - or not even that long...
Falls Creek in Victoria is just one of the snow resorts in Australia. It has everything you could need there (at a higher cost though) and the snow fields are fantastic...with everything from beginners trails to advanced/international trails.
If you would like more information or to see some photos of Falls Creek then check out my Falls Creek
page on VT... :)
If you are into wines in a big way and happen to be visiting Western Australia then I recommend you visit the Margaret River area. It seems there are more wineries than anything else down there and you can find all sorts of tours around the area...
They also have a great fudge factory and many other yummy places to visit. :)
King Street, Perth
Perth is the capital city of Western Australia. It is the most remote capital city in the world and is more of a big town than a capital city.
It's a great place for a visit but it is a long way from anywhere - eg: around a 4.5 hour flight from Sydney. Definitely not just a day trip from the east coast. ;)
Check out my Perth page for more info on our trip...
Gold Coast Beach
The Gold Coast is a very popular place (more of an area than a town) for many tourists. The Gold Coast is in Queensland just an hours drive south of Brisbane. If you love theme parks then the Gold Coast is definitely the place for you...there are theme parks everywhere near by from Sea World to Movie World to Dreamworld etc.
Surfers Paradise is probably the most popular part of the Gold Coast but it is also the most populated. I would recommend visiting one of the less popular (populated) places for a more enjoyable time. ;)
For more information and photos you can visit my Gold Coast page.
Sydney at night...
Sydney is the biggest city in Australia...it is also the capital city of the state of New South Wales (NSW). It is also the best known city in Australia.
Sydney is best known for the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House but there are many other things to see and do while in Sydney. I doubt many visitors could ever get bored in Sydney.
For more photos and information on things to see and do visit my Sydney page.
Incase you don't already know...Canberra is the capital city of Australia. It is in the Australian Capital Territory (it is totally surrounded by New South Wales).
Canberra is a lot smaller than Sydney or Melbourne but there are still many things to see and do there...
For more information on Canberra visit my Canberra page here on VT.
Visit Melbourne while you are in Australia if you like cities... Melbourne is very different from Sydney in many ways, you will see what I mean just by looking through my pages even. Melbourne has a lot of things to see and do and has a lot of variety in shopping and food.
If you don't already know, Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria...it is also the second largest city in Australia.
For more information and photos check out my Melbourne page.
Part of the 12 Apostles
Make sure that you visit the Great Ocean Road if you get the chance... It is a really beautiful part of Australia...definitely a 'must see'!
The Great Ocean Road is between Melbourne and Adelaide on the south coast of Victoria. The sceney is amazing!!! You could drive the road in one day if you wanted to but it's best not to rush...you will be cheating yourself if you don't stop along the way to see the beautiful scenery and sights. If you don't have a car then you will find many tours leaving from Melbourne.
For more information on the area and photos along the Great Ocean Road check out my Port Campbell page. :)
