Favorite Thing: "There's Big Ben kids..." :) I think of that Chevy Chase movie every time I see this photo... ;) It was strange seeing it with our own eyes after seeing it on TV so many times... Big Ben is located at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament. It is 320 foot tall. The bell strikes every hour.

Favorite Thing: We visited Buckingham Palace in 2000 but couldn't see much because there were too many people there...but we went back in 2005 and had a front row position... We watched the changing of the guards while we were there too.

Favorite Thing: We visited Piccadilly Circus one day during our first visit to London also...it was exactly like we had seen in many photos... Huge amounts of neon signs all over the place and bus streets. It was great to see it...although we didn't stay long...

Favorite Thing: We had to visit Harrods at least once while we were in London...we'd heard about it on movies and in TV shows so we couldn't miss it. I'm glad we went too...the whole shop was covered by Christmas decorations (it was early November when we were there in 2000) and they were selling some amazing Christmas decorations in the shop too...great for my collection! :)

Favorite Thing: We visited Covent Gardens in 2000 on a Sunday and it was totally bare with noone in sight...we visited Covent Gardens on a Saturday in 2005 and it was a really busy place...so different to how I remembered it last time. Covent Gardens is full of small cafes, shops and markets...as well as some entertainers trying to make a buck. It's a nice place to spend some time...

Favorite Thing: Hyde Park is a huge park not far from Buckingham Palace... We walked through it to get from Buckingham Palace to (the very run down) Kensington Palace near by. We also stopped off at the Princess Diana memorial which looks unfinished still although I was told it was finished. There were heaps of people in the park having a picnic, kicking a ball around or just relaxing... Very nice!

MikeStarr5 Tue Nov 13, 2007 14:22 UTC I always enjoy reading tips about London, even though where I live is not a million miles away. I think we should recommend to the authorities that "Barking Town" and "Wagga Wagga" be twinned - That would be really kool - Woof, Woof ! Ha-Ha ! | jo104 Thu Feb 9, 2006 11:58 UTC beautiful pic of tower bridge I've been lucky enough to go to a function in the strands & catch a sunset from there | sue_stone Sat Jun 4, 2005 22:30 UTC Great start....but you'll have to come back one day....perhaps in summer!! | evona Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:28 UTC Nice page. I hope to go there soon :) |
