The Egyptian Museum is an amazing place to visit!!!! It is full of statues, mummies and other old Egyptian things... ;) And of course it is home to Tutankhamun's mask and his other gold/jewellery. We only had a few hours at the museum but you could easily spend a full day or even a full week looking through this place...unfortuantely we ran out of time to go back for a second look. It costed 40 LE to get into the Egyptian Museums... If you plan to go along then make sure you get there as early as possible...the huge crowds seem to turn up around 11 am and by then the museum is so full you can hardly move...

One night in Cairo we went on a cruise boat the "Nile Crystal" to see a belly dancing show... The belly dancing itself was pretty poor (the girl really didn't look interested in performing at all) but then a guy came out and started whirling around...he was amazing...he did it for so long and didn't even fall over! ;) The cruise included a buffet dinner but you had to buy drinks at an extra cost. I personally thought it was a rip off but some may enjoy it. We paid around 150 LE each for the cruise.

We visited the Citadel one day...we had the taxi driver from hell who dropped us off on the wrong side of the Citadel because we didn't want him to wait for us... We spent a few hours inside once we finally got there though. The mosque is amazing and the views from the top are unreal...we could even see the pyramids in the distance (only slightly but we could see them!). It's definitely worth a visit. It costed us 35 LE to get into the Citadel complex.

If you want to do some major shopping at the bazaars in Cairo then Khan el Khalili is the place to go! It's got a huge amount of shops/markets in a maze of small streets... You may easily get lost in there but there's always so much to see that it doesn't matter. ;) I think you need at least a few hours to explore the bazaar and even longer if you plan to do some real bargain shopping. There are so many shops selling similar things that you can almost always get very low prices... At the bazaar you can buy food, clothes, souvineers, musical instruments, spices, toy camels, belly dancing outfits, jewellery, sheesha pipes etc.

Well of course you can't visit Cairo and not go to the Giza Pyramids! ;) We visited the pyramids on the first day of our tour and we were all very excited! The pyramids were just like we expected...big, impressive and almost unreal... It's definitely worth a visit!!!! It costed us 40 LE for entry to the Pyramds and Sphinx. My husband went inside the Second Pyramid along with the rest of our tour group...it costed 20 LE each. Although they said it wasn't very impressive inside they were glad to have gone in to have a look.
