Karnak Temple is HUGE! It's the biggest temple we visited while we were in Egypt. Unfortuantely we didn't get a lot of time to explore it on our own but I'm sure you could spend hours looking around if you had the time. There are some amazing statues and carvings etc! It costed 40 LE to get into the Karnak Temple.

We didn't get to go inside Luxor Temple but we did have a look around from outside...we would have gone inside if we had more time. You can see a fair bit of the temple from the street but our friends who went inside said it was better up close...

We visited Hatchepshut Temple after going to the Valley of the Kings...it's not too far away at all. It was great to visit this temple because it was very different to all the other temples we visited in Egypt. There was a nice view from the top of the temple too... Our guide gave us a easy way to remember Hatchepshut...he said "hot-chicken-soup" or "hat-cheap-suit"... ;)

We really enjoyed looking through the markets in Luxor...the people seemed a lot nicer than those in Aswan and they really had a sense of humour. ;) One guy offered my new husband 10 million camels for me, another offered his shop!!! We loved looking through the various things for sale...clothes, statues, jewellery boxes, sheesha pipes, postcards, jewellery, shoes etc. Never pay the first price offered...you can usually get them down to about 30 - 40% of the first price. Just walk away if the price isn't good enough and they will chase you almost every time. ;)

We woke up around 4 am one morning so that we could take a donkey ride to the Valley of the Kings... It was a fantastic trip (about 50 minutes on the donkey) and the views were great! :) Once we were at the Valley of the Kings we went inside three tombs and had a look around...it was great...inside the tombs were very colourful drawings that still looked intact! Amazing stuff! You can't take photos inside the tombs but it's okay to take photos outside. It costed 55 LE for entry to the Valley of the Kings and to go inside three tombs...

Sometimes those McD are ok when abroad, and they normally have okish toilets too :) |
