Port Vila is the capital city (town) of Vanuatu with a population of around 36,000 people. It is found on the island of Efate, where most tourists spend their time when in Vanuatu.
Vila is a very laid back town and isn't overly active, especially at night. Some days the cars and buses go mad on the streets and other days it seems there is no one around.
I really enjoyed walking the streets of Vila and looking through the markets and shops...and chatting to the friendly locals.
- Pros:Nice quiet town...

We were there 3 years ago so it may have changed...although we didn't have a Mastercard, only a Visacard so maybe that's the difference. Either way, it didn't work when we were there. :(
We experienced no problems with atm's in Port Vila. We happily withdrew cash from our Westpac Mastercard at the Westpac ATM in the main street, and cash from our linked Visa debit/credit account from the ANZ ATM as well.
Port-Vila seems to be a nice and laid back town :)
Just got back from Vanuatu. Watch out for Barry driving the "Blue Vergin" mini van. He definitely knows how to rip off the tourists charging us $180 for a 15km. journey.
Very enjoyble pages with beautiful photos. Greets!
Port-Vila sounds like a beautiful place for a holiday.. the lagoon looks so inviting. Like the wood carvings at the markets. ;-)
Excellent page. My wife and I enjoyed Port vila and the snorkelling in the lagoon at the Le Lagon Park Royal. The smallest roundabout ever seen is in the main street of Port Vila!
Sounds like a nice town. I love the main market picture. I bet all the vegetables and fruits were so fresh and tasty there..
