We stayed at the Astoria City Travel Inn in April 2006 for a weekend...we had 3 adult women so we got a room with 3 single beds. They didn't change our towels or make the beds etc, not that we minded. They also had parking for $12 a night extra in undercover, security parking...
Unique Qualities: The room was nothing special but for $50 each it was okay... It was a little noisy at night (take your earplugs) but it was in a good location for us...right on the tram lines and free city circle tram.

We stayed at the Victoria Hotel in January 2003. The room was fairly small but nice all the same. We had an ensuite, fridge, TV, hairdryer etc.
Unique Qualities: The central location is fantastic...it is so easy to walk anywhere from there!

Victoria Hall is on the corner of McKenzie Street & Russell Street just on the edge of the CBD. It could be quite a good place to stay if it was done up a little but unfortunately it is very run down and needs a lot of work. We stayed in the "Penthouse" on the top floor...8 beds, a 'kitchen' (with no fridge or kitchen utensils), a shower and a toilet. We had a nice view from the balcony though. Luckily we didn't spend much time in the actual room because we were too busy with shopping and eating out...
Unique Qualities: It wasn't the nicest place to stay but for $25 each per night we managed... ;)
