Snow in Tumut

Favorite thing: On one visit to Tumut I came across snow!! I was really amazed because I didn't know it snowed so low down those mountains... It was great to see and my old boxer dog (sadly no longer with me) loved playing in the snow. :)

Emus

Favorite thing: While we were near Tumut one day with our friends from Holland we came across a pile of emus...they came very close for wild emus!

You will manage to see emus almost everywhere around the Tumut Dam...I think I've seen them on every trip to the dam so far...

Snowy Mountain Scheme

Favorite thing: This photo is taken at the bottom of the Snowy Mountain Scheme power station...the pipes are HUGE...you can see how big by the size of my friends in the photo... :)

This is Tumut 3 Power Station - open 7 days for guided tours at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm.

Snowy Mountain Scheme

Favorite thing: The Snowy Mountain Scheme power stations are near Tumut...the huge pipes that run down the mountains are amazing.

There are 16 major dams, seven power stations and one pumping station. Plus 145 kms of underground tunnels and 80 kms of aqueducts

The tour is a bit long and fairly in depth so if you aren't into power stations then I recommend you just have a look around on your own...

Thomas Boyd Trackhead

Favorite thing: Going camping is always fun...we went to the Thomas Boyd Trackhead not far out of Tumut in November 2003 and had a great time! :)

There are plenty of areas for camping, dogs are allowed there and they even have toilets!!!

Tumut Dam

Favorite thing: This photo was taken from the top of the Tumut Dam wall...there is a nice picnic ground below great for spending some time with friends or family... :)

Favorite thing: The Tumut Dam is also known as Blowering Dam (the proper name for the dam)...

This photo was taken on one camping trip to the dam... :)
