We visited Versailles one day while staying in Paris. I wasn't overly impressed by Versailles but perhaps it was because my expectations were too high...also the fountains were not running which made the gardens a little 'boring'... Still, we got some nice photos there...

Don't take too much along with you...you will be walking around a bit and the less you have to carry the better... Good... more travel advice

We caught a regional RER train out to Versailles. It took around 30 miniutes to get there. Our Eurail ticket was still... more travel advice

I like your thunderstorm pics! This was the first one and the other palaces were built later. So they could avoid the mistakes which they made in Versailles. It's the original, while the other are only copies.
