England for me is three countries.
You have
touristy England, with little picturesque villages, cream teas and holidays by the seaside. This is how I experienced England on family holidays as a teenager. The sun would always shine, and National Trust properties seemed to pop up at every corner.
Then there is
modern England, with large cities, commuters, nights out, shopping malls, ... the hustle and bustle of modern life basically. This is how I have experienced England since I came to work here.
And then there is
London, which is a bit different from the rest, simply because it is the capital... everything seems to be happening here (says I, who lives in Birmingham, only with a little envy) - arts, politics, media, etc. Not to mention the massive amount of historic monuments, world class exhibitions, shops, ...
So there you go - three in one. Feel free to browse my tips...
