So why is Birmingham so great? (in random order)
1. It's a great base to explore the rest of England. London is only 90 minutes away by train. Wales is close, and so are Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds.
2. Food: Balti curries were invented in Birmingham. You can't come to Birmingham without trying a curry.
3. All the redevelopment that has been (and is still) going on in the city: Brindley Place, the Bullring shopping centre, the Mailbox, Jewellery Quarter, ... watch this space.
4. The accent. Really. To hear it is to believe it.
5. Ozzie Osbourne is from here. Erm...
6. More canals than Venice! Yep, that's right!
7. Spaghetti Junction (just because it's a cool name)
8. John Barrowman will be in the Christmas panto that year! John Barrowman, also known as Captain Jack Harkness (heard of Doctor Who, anybody?)!
9. Birmingham is England's Second City (don't listen to Manchester when they say they are!).
10. There must be more reasons. Really, I will think of some other reasons and come back to this page shortly. Really. |
