Well, what can I say about my home town. There is not too much to do in Caboolture it self - it is a good point if you are travelling & working your way around Australia though as during the Strawberry Season there is generally lots of temp work going for the right person.
It's also pretty cheap to live here rather than on the Sunshine Coast or in Brisbane. Brisbane is only an hour by train & Sunshine Coast is about 45min drive.
Caboolture also provides the gateway to Bribie Island which is quite nice it is more of a quiter seaside area where you can go for a walk along the beach, read a book, go fishing or enjoy a BBQ at one of the many park areas along the Esplanade. It is starting to come alive in regards to culture and there are a few little coffee shops popping up amongst the fish n chip shops on the island. If you enjoy golf the is a golf course on Bribie which I am told is quite nice & has a lovely club with meals etc. If you don't have a car there are buses that run to Bribie Island from Caboolture Train Station. I am not sure of the times they run as I haven't had to use them personally.
Caboolture is a good spot to stay if you are planning on visiting Australia Zoo. It is about a 20min drive to Australia Zoo (yes the one owned by the late Croc Hunter Steve Irwin's family). Which from what I hear these days you need the day to see.
Nightlife in Caboolture is ok.... lets just say if your up for a wild night out to pick up the hottest guy/gal ever Caboolture isn't really the place to do it. There are a few pubs about but no real nightclubs or anything & they are reasonably spread out. Mind you, if your up for a general night out with a few mates then it's fun.
Caboolture is really an industry based/ family area & does provide a good central point for a lot of people who enjoy the Brisbane & Sunny Coast lifestyle on weekends.
Caboolture has moved ahead in recent years & now has it's name for the Country Music Festival & Woodford Folk festival which are both held each year. Country Music in May, Woodford in December/January.
Accommodation - I would recommend getting accommodation on Bribie if you are a family as they have nice self contained units. Caboolture has a few motels but other than that not many accommodation options. I think there may also be a couple of B&B's about.
Held in Woodford each year from 27th Dec. to 1st January. It is one of the biggest festivals around. Providing a huge... more travel advice
