We had visited the USA in 2008 and only really seen the big cities. We are country people and wanted to see more than just concrete. We realised that to do that we would need to hire a car (very scary for country kid Australians) but we were somewhat concerned.
So anyway when we decided to visit San Francisco we thought it would be a good opportunity to TRY driving on the wrong (right?) side of the road and Healdsburg was a sensible distance for this first trip.
Anyway I think we made a good choice as we enjoyed our stay in this smallish town. Quite friendly and relaxed although much warmer than San Francisco.
- Pros:Close to the city-we easily drove back to catch a lunchtime flight
- Cons:Fairly warm!
- In a nutshell:Great stop for a few nights, plenty to do

we've driven through the area, but never took the time to stop. Looks like we should have!
I think farmers markets anywhere is a winner. You always find nice fresh produce there. Thanks for a very interesting page, cannot imagine 30 firetrucks together though. ;-)
