| The further off from England the nearer to France |
From England to Germany. Drive a car, it's the only way. Over the water into France, quickly through France ,Belgium, slow down for the lovely Ardennes and over into Germany by the river Mosel. (Not the Moselle, that is in France). Here they make the best wine in the world. |
Mosel valley, 'the Roman Wine Road' Every usable space has vines and the real wine comes to your table in every Gasthof and restaurant in the villages along the river. Our favourite is the Pölicher Held in Pölich village. Held means Hero, the hero in ths case is the grape. |

Roman Trier Trier on the river Mosel was a major Roman city and there are the remains of many of their buildings. Today it is a nice place to do your shopping and therea lots of good restaurants. A must for coffee, Pils and lots of lovley cakes is the Dreikönigenhaus.(three Kings) Don't miss it it is just down the road from the Porta Negra. Now off to Bavaria via Bruchsal, the Black Forest and the delghts of Swabia. |
