My first trip to England was May, 2003 - and it won't be the last. This land of palaces, abbeys, farmland, and gardens is enchanting to visit!
My trip included London, Windsor, Warwick, the Cotswolds, Stonehenge, Bath, Glastonbury, and Wells before we moved on to explore parts of Wales. My only problem was a lack of time to see everything I wanted to see in my limited time...but that just allows me the opportunity to return and see more!
While London is a not-to-be-missed destination, the countryside is spectacular...the only problem being trying to decide where to go! I will always head for gardens...its in my blood! And theCotswolds have some lovely ones. This thatched building is beside the entrance to Hidcote gardens. Its even more lovely in person!
I hope you can enjoy my photos and my thoughts on this visit to the British Empire....
this is a work in progress, a sharing of a trip I'll always cherish
- Pros:ancient wonders, modern society
- Cons:I'm not there now!
- In a nutshell:for the Western Civilization history buff to the garden enthusiast, this is a perfect destination!

Excellent tips about Englad with wonderful insights, enthusiasm, and helpful information.
beautiful picture!
You avoid the £9 charge for entry so you didn't miss out. You can see as much from the road as they do not let you near the stones.
Nice emotive stuff. Interesting overview. (love the tiolet pic!)
Terrific hotel recommendations -- I like it when there's enough info to really find out about the place. Thanks!
great page - Silbury Hill looks like Maes Howe on orkney. That is an ancient burial tomb but there have not been any bones found at Silbury.
Hi, Kath, great page - really enjoyed the photos and the personal perspective.
Fantastic photograpgs...I especially loved the one of Bath, and the one of Westminster Abbey,....and Glastonbury, ...
I love your new pages, Kath! I'll be looking them all over as I get time. Marvelous photos!!
Wow, tea at the Ritz looks spectacular. I had tea at Brown's, which was also lovely, but the Ritz has more glam. :)
