Johannesburg is the largest city in South-Africa, with about 7 mill inhabitants incl. the surrounding areas. The city is extensive and spread over a large area with a lot of suburban places. The streets in the downtown are remarkable dirty to be in a country with such a good infrastructure. Other areas of the city is cleaner and more well organized. This photo was taken from the hotel window, overlooking the skyline of Johannesburg with the City park bus station in front. |
| | . Downtown Johannesburg is a great place for shopping in the daytime. When the nights comes, the city is dark and insecure. |
| | . Melville is a quiet area in Johannesburg. 20 minutes drive from the city centre, this is like day and night compared with the downtown. The settlement is mostly white people, and the place is known to be cool and for housing students. The streets are clean, and there are cafe's and restaurants around the main streets. Even so I find Melville a bit boring. This is not my kind of Africa, and also not the place for low-priced shopping. |

They set you up, getting other men to follow you, so that you will ask for their protection and they make a quick buck. |
