The good thing about small cities like Dublin is that you become a processed Tourist through the assembly line feeling like what happens when you become recycled in the Vatican tours for example. The tour was quite extensive fully explaining the basic uses of the rooms, down to the devil of the details. Quite a number of rooms as well, even heading to the courtyard and underground passages! The tour guide, of course in classic irish accent, tells a mighty tale of Feudal lords somehow coming together to form a nation, and becoming an identity from Britain. Photo1: Guide giving eloquent background of eye-catching beautiful table from mahogony, oak, and finest quality. Photo2: Coat of arms, where i think the unicorn repreesents Irland, and the lion on the right represents England.

When in Dublin, drink Guiness Beer lad! Thats what they say, and right from the get-go its a fun little experience. Its a self guided tour, but has a electronic tour guide actually, and it works quite nicely i would say, since you can skip the boring parts, and listen to the full length process for what catches your eye. In all forms this museum is world class, from visual appeal, entertainment and education. I particularly enjoyed listening to the passion in the owners voice in the recordings, about the ever-so important ingedients in guiness beer; Malted barely, hops, yeast and water, all of which are beautifullly displayed in its natural state as mother nature intended. awwwww And along steps of the way, you receive guinness beer in its production form, where you can ave the chance to pinpoint the malt in the overall taste. I also loved the section showing how they constructed the old-fashion wodden barrels at St. James Gate in its humble beginnings to ship across the world. Finally after the education, you are award in top floor, 360 degrees panorama view Bar (see photo) a full glass of perfectly poured guiness, in two phases poured to give the maximum amount of the goodness. It definately tastes better in the factory!

I have always imagined what it would be like to be a student or better a professor at these historical colleges, where minds have researched, and shaped technology and history like Stephen Hawking. And the air is very quiet here. Minds are thinking, so put on your study voices please! Anyhow, the grounds are very well maintained, with the greenest of irish grass, and white pearly buildings. I ventured to the back where a very contested soccer match was happening, and all the young university students were out in the sun to watch the game! Very nice day! Very Irish!

It is all white with old colonial style elegance, particularly in the passion for natural light. Not necessarily a huge mall, compared with North American standards, but is very special. The whole mall is encapsulated in the main large hall. Good shops as well. Not rippoffs surprisingly! Across the street from the mall, is the wonderful Park Stephen park, which is worth a visit. On my day, a outdoor Photo exhibition was out; amazingly colourful photographs dramatically showing animals in action. Im sure you'll find something interesting when you go

Upon landing in Dublin, the Irish street that I layed my eyes on was your truly, and i was pretty impressed, especially after being overwelmed in London. Dublin, has the large government buildings, but is so humble and comforting. The love-hate relationship of the steel Spike in the street is a intimate manifestation of how brutlally honest man can be. Dublin isnt the most thriving, and the fact that the Ha'penny bridge is a major site, i think self explains it. Therefore, the Irish people dont take themselves seriously, and how can they when the Ha'penny bridge remains? And I love them for it! O'connel street is real, comparing to Grafton Street which is somewhat cliche. You will always find shoulder to shoulder crowds there, and street performers. Very nice street to do people watching and busy city feeling. Temple Bar is at the beginning of Grafton Street, which is a brilliant example of Irish Bar. Wander beyond these two streets, and you find Timmy O'Tool residing in the brick house intoxicated with soot and exhaust from the coal mines!

MalenaN Sat Apr 12, 2008 19:27 UTC I spent some great days in Dublin last year, but I didn't have time to visit the Guinness Brewery. The view looks good from the Panorama bar! |
