Something Intangible, yet gushing forth everywhere The only way to start this page is to somehow convey my overwhelming addiction to the intrigue for this city. No other city have I pondered on what makes Cairo so unique. There is so much history there, rich with cultural history from different faiths of Ancient Egyptians, Coptic Christians, and today the Islamic Faith. Furthermore, its former glory is not hard to imagine as you see the enormous size of the city and the great river which is the lifeline.
In other cities you must seek to interact with its people and immerse yourself in their culture, but Egyptians on the other hand, are some of the most forthcoming and friendly people anywhere. Somehow, I interacted with tons of egyptians all over, whether exchanging a few words at a shop, talking so freely with taxi drivers, or with your guide. It is a beautiful thing. In my most generous opinion, it can be a model to live, while sometimes it can overly friendly perhaps.
The old saying goes "You either love or hate Cairo."
Myself, I fell in love with the beloved Nile, Khan El Khaleli, my hotel, the history, the taxi drivers, their tourism, and even down to the unbearable noonday heat. |
