El Mansour: Moroccan Food & Belly Dancing
  • Tip Rating:

  • San Francisco El Mansour
  • A little excercise during dinner

  • Restaurant Name: El Mansour

El Mansour - This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Excellent service and great food. I've been here about a dozen times and each time have brough a new group of people who have gone away full and happy.
The whole experience is unique. Everything from the tent atmosphere, to the washing of the hands before the meal, to the belly dancing and finally the pouring of the tea and final washing of the hands and sprinkle of rose water. It's a wonderful dining experience. Remember relax, take your time, enjoy your meal and have a great time.

If for some reason you don't want to belly dance a simple smile and a polite no is all it takes. Everyone is there to have a good time.

Favorite Dish: I usually pick the Moroccan seafood which is a mix of prawns and scallops. Each entree is served with lentil soup (my favorite part of the meal), Sakade Mohammed (tomatoes, eggplant, carrots and cucumbers), Bastela du Chef (a pastry filled with chicken, almonds and spices topped with powered sugar and cinnamon). The above come in seperate courses and are searved with warm bread. The meal is wrapped up with mint tea and fried banana. Don't forget to order Moroccan wine to complete the experience and remember everything is eaten with your hands.

    Lhasa Moon: Tibetan Food
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Lhasa Moon

This is the only Tibetan restaurant that I know of in the whole SF Bay Area. If you're a fan of Indian food and Chinese food and you're looking for something a bit different you've come to the right place. The Tibetan music that they play provides a pleasant ambience to your dinner.

Favorite Dish: Try the steamed momo. This Tibetan favorite is similar to the potsticker but with a variety of fillings. Try the Tsel Momo which is the sampler plate of momo giving you a taste of all three varieties (chicken, beef and veggie)

Jhasha Shamedeh (chicken curry) is similar to a dish that you would find in a Indian restaurant. Chicken in a curry sauce with veggies.

The tibetan rice wine is nice too. It kind of tastes like sake but has a milky white color to it.

    Izumiya: Authentic Japanese Cuisine
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Izumiya

Izumiya is one of the many Japanese restaurants in Japan Town and one of the many in SF for that matter. The food is good, prices are reasonable and the service is fast and friendly. One of the things that I like about this restauraunt is their display of dishes in the front window. This is common among many Japanese restaurants and for some can play an important part in selecting your restaurant

Favorite Dish: During my last trip to Izumiya I had the katsu curry over rice. This is basically a fried pork cutlet in beef curry sauce over white rice. Along with your main course they include a salad with wonderful dressing. They also have a good selection of udon, soba and ramen in addition to sushi. If none of that is what you're looking for you can select from the different teraki meals in addition to other fried delights. Fresh, hot tea is served on the house.
