The Westin Peachtree is a landmark hotel in downtown Atlanta. It has 73 floors and is the tallest hotel in the western hemisphere. At least, that's what all the guidebooks say. Make a note of that fact as it could prove useful someday. I've stayed here a couple of times and found it to be convenient for exploring downtown. The hotel itself is nice and has all the typical Westin amenities, i.e., great bed, great shower and friendly service. There's also a great health club on one of the lower levels and the revolving lounge on top is a nice place to go for a drink or to have something to eat. There is a Sunday brunch up here which is pretty popular, but I've never been so I can't say much about it. Its a convention hotel and, with 70 plus floors, it does get pretty crowded. Having a room on a high floor is a perk in the sense that you can see all of Atlanta from your windows, but it can be an inconvenience if you're leaving on Sunday morning and trying to catch a flight as you're likely to have to wait for an elevator. The hotel's listed prices are fairly steep and usually in the $150 to $200 range, but there is almost always a special rate which can be booked.
The Westin towers over all other downtown buildings and is easy to spot. The revolving lounge on the top floor and the elevator that takes you up there are not exactly unique as many cities have a similar get-up, but they are still pretty nice. Leave a Comment
